It’s global. It’s urban. It’s a show. The FISU University World Cup 3x3 event has become one of FISU's most exciting and popular sports events. With its rightful home on the university campus, the event and its student-athletes are helping take this format of the game to new heights.

In 1996, the championship season opened with the first World University Archery Championship in Vaulx-en-Velin, France. After 11 editions as a WUC and 5 editions as an optional sport at the Summer Universiade, Archery will become a compulsory sport on the SU programme in 2019.

Finswimming is a FISU Recognised Sport since 2017. The sport has been moved to the FISU University World Cup programme in 2019 and the 1st FISU University World Cup Finswimming will be organised in 2022 in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy.

Canoe sprint made its first appearance in the FISU sports programme at the Zagreb Summer Universiade in 1987, as an optional sport. In 1998 the sport was added to the World University Championships programme.
